All life is organized into 3 main DOMAINS
Archaea:Prokaryotes that live in extreme environments Example: extremely salty, extreme temperatures
Bacteria:Prokaryotes. Largest group. Organized by shape.
Eukarya: Eukaryotes. Includes protists, fungi, plants, and animals
Within the 3 Domains, there are
6 Kingdoms

Linnaeus created this two-name naming system as a way to give every organism a unique name that was universal throughout the world no matter what language people spoke.
Scientific names are always in Latin and are written by using the organism's Genus & species.
Scientific names should be in italics OR underlined
Genus is always Capitalized, species is all lower case.
